COMPANY PROFILE

As the members got together to realize by feel what gets in Kiguchi’s head from time to time, they started to attract people’s attention as a unique performance group, carrying various elements of drama, performance, music, contemporary art.
Their pieces could mainly be divided into two kinds basically- the ones take place on stage with more of dramatic elements, and the ones with more of performance elements for festivities.
As they are willing to stay multifaceted, we could expect them to be more active in various genres freely in the future.

The company’s name derives from the Japanese title “Akuma no shirushi”, which was for the song “SYMPTOM OF THE UNIVERSE” by the British rock band BLACK SABBATH that Kiguchi adores.

危口の思いついた何かをメンバーたちが方法論も知らず手さぐりで実現していった結果、演劇・パフォーマンス・建築・美術など多様な要素をもつ異色の集まりとして注目される。作風は基本的に、演劇的な要素の強い舞台作品と、祝祭的なパフォーマンス作品という二つの系統。
団体名は、主宰・危口統之の敬愛する英国のロックバンドBLACK SABBATHの楽曲「SYMPTOM OF THE UNIVERSE」に付けられた邦題、「悪魔のしるし」に由来。2008年結成。

Noriyuki Kiguchi leader/director
Born 1975 in Kurashiki City, Okayama Pref., Japan. As the son of a painter, Kiguchi appreciated Art since his early childhood. (But, these artistic vibe was lost by indulging to comic and heavy metal music in his highschool days.) While studying architecture at Yokohama National University, Kiguchi began his staging career in the campus theater group. Subsequent to his graduation, he started working at a construction site specializing in heavy lifting. After directing a theatrical production "Akumanoshirushi" at Little More Gallery in 2005 and other series of intermittent events, Kiguchi formed the group "Akumanoshirushi" in 2008. Since then, he has continued to produce performance pieces in various styles, including theater work. Although Kiguchi’s theater works are based on the classical plays, they tend to address contemporary social issues and incorporate his own personal situation, as well as highlighting the characteristics of the venue itself. The subject matter for his performative works, on the other hand, is to make festive site that embodies the entire space, which is achieved by diminishing the boundaries between the audience and performers. In 2011, he was selected to participate in "Local Creator in Residence Program" at Tokyo Wonder Site, where he stayed as a resident artist. In 2012, he was selected as the junior fellow artist by Saison foundation.

危口統之/木口統之 主宰・演出家
1975年岡山県倉敷市生
1999年横浜国立大学工学部建設学科卒業
大学入学後演劇サークルに所属し舞台芸術に初めて触れるも卒業後ほどなくして活動停止、建設作業員として働き始める。周囲の助けもあって2005年あたりから断続的に活動再開。 2008年、演劇などを企画上演する集まり「悪魔のしるし」を組織し現在に至る。 2010年、フェスティバル/トーキョー公募プログラム参加、2011年、トーキョーワンダーサイト国内交流プログラム参加、 2012-2013年度、セゾン文化財団ジュニアフェロー、2014年度より同財団シニアフェロー。ほんとうは危じゃなくて木。

Yasuwo Miyamura graphic designer
Became a freelance after working as a member of SaruBURUNEI, and he first designed a logo for the piece “Akuma no Shirushi” to start with. Since then, he has been engaging in total designing for the company from arts for publicity to goods designing. >> http://bouse.jp/

宮村ヤスヲ グラフィックデザイナー
サルブルネイを経てデザイナーとして独立。演劇作品「悪魔のしるし」(2005)のロゴデザインを契機に、宣伝美術からオフィシャルグッズのアートワークまで、すべてのトータルデザインを担当。

一級建築士。建築事務所ＮＥＷＥＳＴ共同主宰。危口とともに、舞台や装置から観客席までを意識した「体験の設計」を担当。

Takio Okamura company manager
After having learnt the basic technical knowledge and practical know hows for performing arts at Centreline Associates Inc, Takio spent a year at the Birmingham Repertory theatre sent by the Japanese Cultural Agency. She is one of the founding members of Okamura&Company Inc., a managing and producing company of wide range of arts from contemporary music to performing arts. 岡村滝尾 カンパニーマネージャー
(株)センターラインアソシエイツにて舞台芸術技術の基礎を学ぶ。英国バーミンガでの劇場研修を経たのち、(株)オカムラ＆カンパニーを立ち上げ、現代音楽から舞台芸術までジャンルを飛び越えた企画制作運営進行に携わる。 2012年初夏より制作進行担当として悪魔のしるしに参加。

Having met Kiguchi through working at a construction site, he joined the group.

神尾歩 パフォーマー/ゲーマー
建設現場で危口と知り合い、誘われるまま「悪魔のしるし」に参加することに。ダンサーとしての活動歴もある（DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION攻略本製作に携わるなど）。俳優として、ステージいばら「ピーターパンなんか知らない」（2009）、白神ももこ「カナガワリ・古典プロジェクト江ノ島まうで舞いをどり」（2014）などに客演。またカードゲーム・ボードゲームへの造詣も深い。

Having been joined the group since the piece “ A Restaurant of Abundant Orders” as a costume designer. He also works for an apparel maker in its sales division.

山室毅聡 衣装デザイナー/パフォーマー/歌手
「注文の夥しい料理店」から衣装として参加し。現在アパレルメーカーに勤務。

Kao Kanamori manager/press/producer
After working for Little More, launched the fashion brand “Theater Products” in 2001. She has also been on the board of directors for NPO, The Drifters International since 2010.
